COMMON Seating – a new brand to watch

New furniture company COMMON seating is fast becoming the newest exciting brand coming out of Denmark. They are a group driven by design and collaborate with designers that are both radical, unique and sensible.

“Design for us is all about the experience of context. An object’s context to the space it resides in, and everything besides the object itself. It helps define the form and functionality, and eventually with who the object will resonate. You’ll notice none of our products look alike, and that’s because no two humans really are alike.” – from Common seating

The fact that they have Chris L. Halstrøm (amazing designer who had designed the Georg collection for Skagerak) and Studio David Thulstrup  who designed the Vipp Loft and so many other amazing projects) on board is beyond exciting. And THEN I saw the designs….. so beautifully minimal. They are certainly something to get excited about.

More designers and architects are to launch new designs soon. Exciting names such as  Bjarke Ingels group, Shop Architects and Baum Und Pferdgarten.

There’s also a focus on transparency. How the cost of these designer pieces should be the highest quality products made to last, at affordable prices.

“High-end, low price. We believe great design and quality should also be affordable, otherwise its not well designed.”

I’m very interested to see how this brand will develop. I think they’re off to a great start.

“I think most people should have a daybed in their workplace. They would probably be more efficient if they were allowed to take a nap from time to time.” –  CHRIS L. HALSTRØMDanish Minimalist furniture by COMMON seating

“We were inspired by a wooden bench, and the desire to be able to take a good nap in it. Armrests often seem to be in the way of a good position for napping, so we decided to add this function into the armrest, so it would also become a headrest.” -STUDIO DAVID THULSTRUPDanish Minimalist furniture by COMMON seating
